Creating meaning

Posted by vlind_exp Creativitiy

Here at Vlinder Expressive Arts we are excited to provide a safe environment to explore wellbeing and creative expression for a beautiful meaningful life.

YOURS!

We will be providing a range of one-on-one sessions, children’s programs and expressive art workshops, supporting those willing and courageous enough to look at inward by using art to gain access to deep wisdom and understanding of themselves.

This is not art that you step back from at the end of the day and say “that’s rubbish”. This is art-making that uses marks, colours, shapes and symbols that give you a glimpse into your own soul. No one judges.

It’s a powerful and healing process, it’s not art that you are going to hang on the wall or give to a relative for Christmas. That’s right, you don’t have to be an artist, to get immense benefits from art therapy. Art therapy is a journey… not a destination!

Many personal and life experiences about belonging and creating a meaningful life have formed the motivation to make a difference to others by sharing art therapy. My own BIG WORK has been revealed to me when I have been creating.

Art therapy enables me to share that purpose so others can use creativity to tap into their inner knowing. Turns out, art in itself hasn’t just been what has lit me up but also Art Therapy itself which is a valid and valuable resource to help people feel, heal and transform many of life’s challenges and struggles. Most times there are no words to adequately navigate life challenges so instead, we make art to enable full self-expression.

I have always had feed back from well-meaning family and friends that I think too much. They are right, so much thinking has sometimes left me spinning and not knowing quite what to do next.

It’s a modern day problem that we get stuck in our heads trying to figure it all out when really it is a matter of opening our hearts and trusting our souls. I have had my greatest insights to my special gifts and talents when I am creating and allowing my light to shine.

What I have come to learn is that I THINK a great deal because I CARE a great deal, but creating keeps me well. As an adolescent, I often thought that a vocation was God’s calling to do the work of nuns and priests only.
It’s not a big leap that I find myself called to a vocation where I make a contribution to mental health where spiritual and creative realms collide to bring transformation, healing and peace.

Join me next time as I explain a little more what an art therapy session can look like (there is no one size fits all). Art therapy is client-centred and the Art Therapist always follows the need of the client and uses resources to best serve the intention of the session. Until then…
Create daily,

Welcome to our tribe. Our place to connect. A place where we gather in the name of being fully expressed, by using art to get to know ourselves and each other. In a way that mimics life. (more…)
