Welcome to our tribe. Our place to connect. A place where we gather in the name of being fully expressed, by using art to get to know ourselves and each other. In a way that mimics life.
Some days it will be a doodle, like when you are at a meeting or are playing with an idea. Somedays it will be paint when you want some flow, but you don’t know which way to go. Somedays it will be clay, like when you want to build or work on something strong and solid. Somedays it will be nature when you are looking for inspiration.
In my role as art therapist, I am so excited to bring my latest version of my authentic self to share my discovering self with you. That sounds like I am a bit full of myself, but I am!…This stuff works! All you need is a deeper yearning for a full and meaningful life!
I have always enjoyed a very sensory experience of the world (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching) and feeling my way through the world often getting a reputation for being a bit of a dreamer… but art therapy has given me access to real connection with others and a genuine knowing that there are others out there….YOU, that have similar dreams and hopes of connecting with others in the way that kindred spirits do…whether that is within family, in business or in groups known and unknown where we play… And the best part of all, you don’t have to be artistic. “What?” I hear you say… how does art therapy work if you are not artistic?
Well, there is a whole lot of deeply theoretic reasons (heard the name Carl Jung?), but the truth is human beings have been expressive creatures for all of their existence. We like to create family, design houses, build businesses, grow gardens, cook meals, celebrate with music. Creativity has taken the forefront in our development whether we have noticed or not…what else was the force that pushed us to stand upright when as a newborn we were not even able to sit initially. Think about it and nothing happens. Think about it, try it… maybe it works… maybe we have to try something else that may work…you got it! We are all inherently creative!
To be human is to be creative. I believe that to my core, and what is really exciting is that our ‘hidden’ wisdom, guiding, knowing healing self is accessible through our ability to create. And that is wildly exciting for all of us who want a ‘filled up’ feeling of our experience of the extraordinary life that were born to live, where we get to make a difference.
Create daily,
Veronica
